Program Description This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to analyze and design the operation of an Enterprise network. Security, and the varying components that are integral to multiple layered defense strategies, will be explored. Effective and secure delivery and support of IT services, that meet a broad spectrum of business needs, will be a core learning component of this program. Students will learn how networks are designed, created and maintained using the latest technologies. This program includes training in understanding and using operating systems, system administration, field of client/server computing, server virtualization, enterprise networks and the maintenance of existing computer networks. Students will acquire professional and entrepreneurial skills for industry and self-employment as well as gain a greater understanding of current industry trends and requirements. In combination with network development students will acquire the capabilities to analyze and evaluate security risks and threats to physical and digital infrastructure, develop and implement security contingency planning, and lead the development of policies and procedures to ensure that security risk is minimized. This program will give students the skills to ensure networks are protected as best possible from real threats presented by hackers, identity thieves and spammers. News reports about data breaches, security violations, privacy failures and other infrastructure failures highlight a growing threat to business and personal information. There are few people who have the skills and education needed to address the massive demand in this area and exciting career opportunities continue to grow. The NASA program incorporates curriculum that prepares the student to obtain certification from Cisco Systems as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) security specialist.
